Dear Reader, Brain Power: A project supporting Brain Injury Awareness Week and people living with acquired brain injury. The City of Port Phillip has granted Bear In Mind Inc. the sum of $3,300 to create a self-help group for those Port Phillip residents who have acquired brain injury, whose causes include stroke and accident. The City of Stonnington had granted $1,200 for a similar but smaller program for Stonnington residents. The project, titled Brain Power, will comprise a main event to attract community interest. This will be followed by a number of subsequent programs in Port Phillip and Stonnington to assist with the formation of local self-help groups. Following last year's successful collaboration with Peace Music, Bear In Mind has again engaged Jarek Czechowicz, founder of Peace Music, to facilitate this year's program, and to assist and advise on the organisation of this project. Bear In Mind Incorporated and Peace Music are contributing products and services to the value of $3,200. This brings the current funding to $7,700. Please help us to exceed these contributions to bring our funding to at least $22,000. This is how you can help.
The following organisations sponsored or supported our project in 2005 for Brain Injury Awareness Week Transport Accident Commission; Victorian Department of Human Services, Holding Redlich Solicitors; Ryan Maloney Anderson Solicitors; State Trustees; ISHKA; GAPCO; Rubysmiles; Palace Cinemas; The Gandel Trust; The Basket Shop; om SHE Cosmetics; Yoga In Australia; The Wilderness Society; Bear In Mind Inc; Borderlands; Augustine Contemplation Path; The Delta Centre; Chiasma; Peace Music; The City of Melbourne. Enclosed is a collage of images from last year's successful event which enjoyed a coming together of diverse cultural, corporate, spiritual, community and disability groups. If you choose to support this project then we would greatly appreciate your response before the end of August so that we can proceed with stage two of the project's implementation in September. The first event is planned for 21 September 2006. Thank you for considering this request. Full details of how you can help are listed below. |
