Vision Statement
Brain Injury Matters is a not-for-profit community managed organisation that works to make life better for people with people living with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

Mission Statement
Brain Injury Matters has as its principal objective the relief of suffering and distress of people who have an Acquired Brain Injury by:
Providing support to alleviate the isolation and marginalisation experienced by so many people with ABI
Development of a support network to assist brain injury survivors to :
voice their grievances,
access the services they need
participate in peer support discussion groups with other people with an ABI
develop skills and self-confidence which will allow them to become active contributors and participants within their communities.

The secondary objects of the Association are to
raise community awareness about the effects of ABI in order to generate community support for ABI survivors
empower people with ABI.

In pursuing its principal and secondary objects, the Association seeks funding and donations from the community and from the State and Commonwealth Governments, government authorities or other government bodies, which are to be solely applied to achieve the principal and secondary objects.

1. PEER SUPPORT & NETWORKING
Brain Injury Matters will
1.1 Support the development of local networks of people with an Acquired Brain Injury.
1.2 Provide a forum to share information, discuss issues.
1.3 Give information to members and associated organisations.
1.4 Form alliances with other organisations to work on human rights and social justice issues.
1.5 Provide direct support to assist people to access the services and supports they need.

2. SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Brain Injury Matters will
2.1 Create opportunities for members to learn about their disabilities and help each other achieve goals.
2.2 Provide training to members to increase skills and self awareness.
2.3 Seek funding for self- advocacy development activities including training, professional and organisational development.

3. COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Brain Injury Matters will
3.1 Raise community awareness about the effects of Acquired Brain Injury
3.2 Provide information about brain injury to the community.
3.3 Develop and distribute educational resources.

4. INFORMATION SHARING
Brain Injury Matters will
4.1 Operate a library of information of interest to people with an acquired brain
injury
4.2 Produce a regular newsletter
4.3 Distribute information about group meetings, special events and projects

5. HAVE A SAY ON ISSUES
Brain Injury Matters will
5.1 Provide advice to governments and decision makers.
5.2 Advocate for the maintenance and increase of advocacy funding.
